Free Hot Soup for The New York Times

In November 2018, the Kansas City, Missouri Health Department shut down a Free Hot Soup picnic, throwing food into garbage bags and pouring bleach on it as the group couldn’t provide the correct documents or proof the food was prepared in a proper environment for this type of distribution. Free Hot Soup responded that they were just a group of friends having a picnic, the group which organizes on Facebook meets at multiple parks in Kansas City providing meals, clothes, and other resources to homeless folks in the area—photographed for The New York Times.
