CHASE CASTOR

35mm Portraiture

When Allyson sent me her mood board for this shoot I knew we would work well together. She had a lot of ideas for photographs that had a lot of shadow play and natural light. My house has these big windows that allow light to pour in onto this empty white wall in our living room, setting up the perfect backdrop for a lot of this shoot.

Ally was amazing to work with and the images turned out so well. Though I’ve shied from the typical studio headshot/model work, this shoot solidified my love for natural editorial portraiture.

These images were capture on Kodak Ektar and Ilford HP5+ 35mm . I used a Voitlander Bess R3m with the Voitlander Nokton 40mm lens, a Canon EOS 3 with 85mm 1.2 L lens, and an Olympus XA point and shoot. I processed the black and white at home and Express photo processed the color film. All the images were scanned at home using the Kodak Pakon F-135+ film scanner.
