Mia Mercado is an incredibly talented writer who has written for The New Yorker, Men’s Health, Bustle, The New York Times, and The Cut, to name a few. I made the author portraits for her first book, “Weird but Normal.” I recently saw a Frida Kahlo exhibit and was taken by Nickolas Muray’s portraits of her, I attempted to mimic this look in the red/maroon images in this set.
