CHASE CASTOR

A Visit Home and Work as Rest

Photos from a trip home. I spent a lot of time with my dad checking on his cattle and my mom tending to the garden. We had lunch every day at my grandparents house where a meal turned into a hours of conversation. For my family work is an important part of balance in their life. I didn’t understand it for a long time and I still think at times being too work focused is unhealthy, but for my family their work is tied into their rest. I think they take a lot of joy in taking care of animals and plants and it serves as a form of meditation and contemplation for them.

These photos were taken on Fujifilm Acros 100 film with an Olympus Stylus Epic (mju ii) point and shoot camera. I developed them at home. I use Kodak HC-110 for developer and Ilford Rapid Fix for the fixer. I scanned them at home as well using the Kodak Pakon F135+
